MINNEAPOLIS – A violent drug trafficking organization known as the “Big Sip DTO” has been hit with a federal indictment, charging nine members with fentanyl conspiracy and firearms charges. The group operated out of at least five apartment buildings near 36th Avenue North and North Penn Avenue, selling deadly fentanyl and bringing violence to the neighborhood.
Acting U.S. Attorney Joseph H. Thompson announced the takedown, stating that “The Big Sip drug trafficking organization wreaked havoc at 36th and Penn, bringing guns, violence, and deadly fentanyl to neighborhood apartment buildings.”
The indicted members are Larry McGee, 42, Danielle Robberstad, 35, Maurice Montgomery, 31, Dameon Collins, 24, Marcus Lucious, 53, Romell Vann, 22, Bobby Nolan, 43, and Jeremy Lucious, 35. They face up to life in prison for their roles in the conspiracy.
According to court documents, McGee and Robberstad, husband and wife, were at the top of the organization, with Robberstad handling storage and sales operations. Montgomery, Collins, and Vann were responsible for protecting the fentanyl sales with firearms. The DTO was active from August 2023 through June 2025.
ATF Special Agent in Charge Travis Riddle emphasized the importance of dismantling such organizations, stating, “We will not allow armed criminal groups to threaten the safety and future of the Twin Cities.” FBI Special Agent in Charge Alvin M. The defendants have made their initial appearances in court, with Montgomery, Collins, and Vann being detained pending further proceedings.
