WASHINGTON – In a stark reminder of the January 6, 2021, U.S. Capitol breach, Anthony Nolf, 38, from Birdsboro, Pennsylvania, has been sentenced to three months in prison and five months of home detention for his role in the riot.
Nolf pleaded guilty on October 20, 2023, to one count of civil disorder, a felony, for his participation in the chaos that disrupted a joint session of Congress counting electoral votes for the 2020 presidential election.
The court documents outline how Nolf attended the “Stop the Steal” rally at the Ellipse and actively participated in dismantling protective fencing around the Capitol. He then joined others in a violent confrontation with law enforcement, witnessed firsthand assaults on officers, and despite this, continued to engage in riotous behavior.
Inside the Lower West Terrace Tunnel, Nolf used his body as a weapon against police lines, contributing to the coordinated effort to breach the Tunnel. Video footage captures him smiling during the confrontation before being expelled with other rioters by approximately 4:21 p.m.
Nolf was arrested in Pennsylvania on April 5, 2023, and faced justice in the District of Columbia under the relentless pursuit of justice led by U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia and the Department of Justice National Security Division’s Counterterrorism Section.
Since January 6, 2021, over 1,450 individuals across nearly all 50 states have faced charges related to the Capitol breach, including over 500 charged with felonies like assaulting law enforcement. The investigation into this pivotal moment in American history is ongoing, and justice continues to be served.
