Abusive Sexual Contact Allegation Rocks Blackfoot Community

A disturbing case of Abusive Sexual Contact has surfaced in Blackfoot, South Dakota, where an 18-year-old man has been indicted by a federal grand jury.

According to reports, Ta-Sunka-Hinz Thunder Hawk, 18, was indicted on May 15, 2013, for allegedly committing Abusive Sexual Contact. The charges stem from an alleged assault that took place in La Plant, South Dakota, in March of 2013.

The maximum penalty upon conviction is 3 years of custody, a $250,000 fine, or both; a minimum of 5 years up to life of supervised release; a $100 special assessment; and restitution. The investigation is being conducted by the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe Law Enforcement Division, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Mikal Hanson prosecuting the case.

It is essential to note that the charge is merely an accusation, and Thunder Hawk is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. The 18-year-old was released on bond pending sentencing and awaits a trial date.

The United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced the indictment, stating that the alleged assault has caused significant concern within the community. The case serves as a reminder that such crimes will not be tolerated and will be vigorously prosecuted.
