HOUSTON – A 55-year-old Pasadena resident has been handed a 180-month sentence for the receipt of child pornography, marking a significant victory in the fight against online sexual exploitation.
Bo Rain Wells, aged 55, pleaded guilty on July 14th. U.S. District Judge Andrew S. Hanen imposed the harsh sentence, which includes an additional 25 years of supervised release. Wells must adhere to stringent restrictions on his access to children and the internet during this period.
The court noted that Wells was already a registered sex offender following his conviction in 2006 for aggravated sexual assault of a child in Harris County.
“People who view child sex abuse material create a demand for the sexual exploitation of defenseless children,” stated U.S. Attorney Nicholas J. Ganjei. “Watching child pornography is therefore not a victimless offense, and the Southern District of Texas is committed to ending this despicable behavior.”
In a dramatic turn of events on July 26, 2024, federal agents executed a search warrant at Wells’ residence in Pasadena. They seized several electronic devices containing an astonishing 39 terabytes of pornography, including videos depicting prepubescent minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct.
The investigation was led by Immigration and Customs Enforcement – Homeland Security Investigations Galveston, with assistance from the Pearland Police Department and Houston-Metro Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jay Hileman prosecuted the case as part of Project Safe Childhood, a DOJ initiative launched to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse.
