Bobby E. McGraw, Steroid Importation, Oklahoma 2017
A Mountain Grove, Missouri, man has been sentenced to 5 years of probation for importing anabolic steroids from Thailand. 43-year-old Bobby E. McGraw was convicted of Importation Of Anabolic Steroids, in violation of Title 21, United States Code, Sections 952(b), 960(a)(1) and 960(b)(5).
The charges against McGraw arose from an investigation by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). The indictment alleged that on or about June 7, 2017, in the Eastern District of Oklahoma, McGraw knowingly and intentionally imported into the United States from the Kingdom of Thailand, anabolic steroids, a Schedule III controlled substance.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, McGraw used an acquaintance in Porum, Oklahoma, as a cover to receive the anabolic steroids. This was an attempt to evade detection by law enforcement.
McGraw had pleaded guilty to the charge. U.S. Attorney Brian J. Kuester praised the DEA’s investigation, stating, ‘In an effort to evade detection, McGraw… had Anabolic Steroids, a controlled substance, delivered to the address of an acquaintance in Porum, Oklahoma. The DEA investigation that ensued revealed that the Anabolic Steroids had been ordered by McGraw from a source in Thailand.’
The Honorable Ronald A. White, U.S. District Judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, presided over the hearing. Assistant United States Attorney Rob Wallace represented the United States.
Bobby E. McGraw’s case serves as a reminder of the ongoing efforts to combat the importation and distribution of illicit drugs in the United States. The DEA’s investigation and the U.S. Attorney’s Office’s prosecution demonstrate a commitment to holding individuals accountable for their actions.
