Tyrice Stanton, a 37-year-old Annandale man, was sentenced to 5 years and 4 months in prison for trafficking “boot” and unlawfully possessing firearms. On May 2, 2024, law enforcement searched Stanton’s residence and found 41.63 grams of boot, a Schedule 1 controlled substance, along with multiple firearms and ammunition. The search was conducted pursuant to a warrant, and it marked the beginning of the end for Stanton’s illicit activities.
As investigators dug deeper, they discovered that Stanton had been released after being charged with armed drug trafficking on May 22, 2024. However, he didn’t seem to learn his lesson, as he was later photographed in possession of a rifle. This blatant disregard for the law led to another search warrant being executed on June 26, 2024, which resulted in the discovery of another handgun in Stanton’s possession.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) Washington Field Division and the Fairfax County Police Department worked together to investigate this case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Ronald L. Walutes Jr. prosecuted the case, which ultimately led to Stanton’s sentencing. The outcome serves as a reminder of the consequences of engaging in drug trafficking and firearms crimes in the Eastern District of Virginia.
