U.S. Attorney Booth Goodwin Thanks Law Enforcement Officers
CHARLESTON, W.Va. – In a statement released on Friday, Jan. 9, 2015, U.S. Attorney Booth Goodwin thanked law enforcement officers on National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day.
In his statement, Goodwin praised the hard work and selflessness of law enforcement officers, highlighting their willingness to put themselves in harm’s way to protect others.
“Law enforcement officers do it all,” Goodwin said. “Whether it’s helping a victim of a car wreck, apprehending a gun-wielding robbery suspect or stopping drug traffickers from ravaging our communities, we can count on them to respond.”
Goodwin also emphasized the sacrifices made by law enforcement officers, who often put their own safety and comfort at risk to serve the public. “They’ve traded what might have been an easy job behind a desk for a hard one on the streets. They’ve traded what might have been a lucrative job for one with more modest financial rewards,” he said.
Goodwin noted that the work of law enforcement officers is not just a job, but a calling. “I will always be inspired by their selfless and devoted service,” he said. “The sacrifices they make day in and day out, especially the ultimate sacrifice made by their fallen comrades, is a reminder to us of what is the very best about our country.”
In his statement, Goodwin encouraged everyone to take a moment to thank law enforcement officers for their service, not just on National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, but every day.
Goodwin’s statement was a testament to the hard work and dedication of law enforcement officers across the country, who put their lives on the line every day to keep communities safe.
