⏱ 2 min read

Illicit activity is rampant along the Texas border, with 263 cases filed in Houston from June 19-25 for immigration and border security-related crimes. The Southern District of Texas has charged 223 illegal aliens, including 56 for illegal entry and 167 for reentry, with most having previous convictions for narcotics, immigration offenses, and violent crimes. Additionally, 29 individuals are accused of human smuggling, while other cases involve various immigration crimes.

Notable cases include Mexican national Rosendo Castelan-Reyes, who faces charges after being discovered near La Grulla with no authorization to be in the country, despite a prior conviction for aggravated assault and removal in 2018. Similarly, Cuban national Angel Javier Cabrera-Rivero was found near Cuevitas with a prior conviction for drug trafficking before his removal in December 2025.

If convicted of felony reentry after removal, both men face up to 20 years in federal prison. The cases are part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative aimed at repelling the invasion of illegal immigration and protecting communities from violent crime.

The investigations were supported by federal law enforcement partners, including Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the Drug Enforcement Administration, the FBI, and the U.S. Marshals Service, with additional assistance from state and local law enforcement partners.
