GRIMY TIMES EXCLUSIVE: Wesley David Gilreath, 30, of Boulder, Colorado, has been sentenced to 15.5 years in federal prison for possessing tens of thousands of images and videos of child pornography.
Gilreath’s downfall began when the FBI seized his phone during a warrant search, uncovering around 12,000 images and 200 videos depicting the sexual abuse of children. The investigation also revealed Gilreath used social media to distribute child porn and had previous ties to white supremacist activities.
During a raid on Gilreath’s residence, agents found additional evidence of his depravity. A Nazi flag, white supremacy symbols, books detailing terrorism, and notes with the addresses of religious centers were among the items seized. Gilreath was also flagged for attempting to purchase a firearm in 2019.
“While one image of child pornography is horrific, tens of thousands of images and videos in the possession of one person is almost incomprehensible,” said U.S. Attorney Jason Dunn. “This sentence ensures that he can no longer contribute to the market for these images.”
The FBI Denver Special Agent in Charge Michael Schneider emphasized the collaboration between state and federal agencies, commending the Boulder Police Department, RTD, and United States Attorney’s Office for their work.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Julia Martinez prosecuted the case, which was investigated by the FBI with support from local law enforcement.
