California Man Convicted of Large-Scale Fentanyl Pill Mill Operation
TRENTON, N.J. – Andrew Tablack, a 29-year-old man from Beverly Hills, California, has been convicted of running a massive pill mill operation that distributed hundreds of thousands of fentanyl analogue pills throughout the United States, including New Jersey.
According to documents filed in this case and the evidence at trial, Tablack manufactured these illegal pills in clandestine labs in and near Los Angeles and sold them anonymously on the dark web using the moniker “XanaxKing2.” He shipped approximately 400,000 of his illegal pills per month and made millions of dollars from his operation in digital currency.
Tablack was convicted of one count of manufacturing, distributing, and possessing with intent to manufacture and distribute pills containing cyclopropyl fentanyl, an analogue of fentanyl intended for human consumption, in violation of federal drug laws, and one count of conspiracy to do the same.
The guilty verdict was returned by a jury after a six-day trial before U.S. District Judge Michael A. Shipp in Trenton federal court. The jury deliberated for less than two hours before reaching their decision.
Acting U.S. Attorney Rachael A. Honig announced the conviction, crediting special agents with the Drug Enforcement Administration, Newark Division, under the direction of Special Agent in Charge Susan A. Gibson, for the investigation leading to the guilty verdict.
Tablack faces up to 20 years in prison and a fine of $1 million on each count of the indictment. Sentencing is scheduled for December 6, 2021. The case was conducted under the auspices of the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF), which aims to identify, disrupt, and dismantle the most serious drug trafficking organizations in the country.
The government is represented by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Tazneen Shahabuddin, José R. Almonte, and Sarah Devlin. Tablack’s conviction serves as a major blow to the nation’s illicit opioid supply and is a testament to the tireless efforts of law enforcement agencies working to combat the opioid epidemic.
