Noah Schottenstein, Child Pornography Possession, Colorado 2024

Denver’s Noah Schottenstein, 30, was handed a severe sentence for his chilling attempt to possess child pornography. United States Attorney Ron Parsons dropped the hammer with the announcement that Schottenstein has been sentenced to three years in federal prison, followed by five years of supervised release. The Colorado man also has to fork over $100 for a special assessment and an additional $5,000 to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.

Schottenstein’s transgression came to light during a 2016 Sturgis Motorcycle Rally undercover sex trafficking operation. One of nine men arrested as part of the sting, Schottenstein communicated with individuals he believed were minors in intent to engage in sexual acts. The most harrowing revelation was his explicit request for child pornography images from the minor he thought he was communicating with.

The South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation, Department of Homeland Security, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Rapid City Police Department, and Pennington County Sheriff’s office joined forces to crack down on sex trafficking at the rally. Assistant U.S. Attorney Sarah Collins prosecuted the case with relentless determination.

Upon conviction, Schottenstein was swiftly remanded into custody by the U.S. Marshals Service, a stark reminder of the serious consequences faced by those who cross the line into child exploitation and cybercrime.

This sentence serves as a chilling testament to the lengths law enforcement will go to protect children from predators like Schottenstein, who think they can operate in the shadows with little chance of justice catching up. The community can take solace in the fact that those who prey on innocence will be held accountable for their actions.

As grim as it is, this case underscores the ongoing battle against sex trafficking and child exploitation in our digital age. It’s a fight that requires relentless dedication from all levels of law enforcement, and one that the public must be aware of to ensure the safety of our youth.
