Baltimore, Maryland – Tyrone Allen, age 44, of Bowie, Maryland, was sentenced to 16 years in prison, followed by five years of supervised release, for conspiring to distribute cocaine.
According to his plea agreement and court documents, Allen was a lieutenant in the Jenifer Drug Trafficking Organization, led by Kedrick Jenifer, who obtained cocaine from sources in and around Houston, Texas.
The Jenifer DTO would hide money in secret compartments in ‘courier vehicles’ that were transported from Baltimore to Houston, and the cocaine was then transported from Houston to Baltimore hidden in the courier vehicles.
In 2012, Texas State Police stopped a courier vehicle in Chambers County, Texas, discovering approximately 30 kilograms of cocaine hidden in secret compartments within the vehicle.
Between 2013 and 2014, approximately 30 shipments of cocaine concealed in secret compartments in the courier vehicles were made to the Jenifer DTO, with Allen providing kilogram quantities of cocaine to members of the organization.
Allen admitted to distributing at least 450 kilograms of cocaine between August 2013 and October 2014.
Eight other co-conspirators have pleaded guilty, including Brooke Renee Lunn, William Hegie, Kermit Clark, and Elroy Johnson, who were sentenced to between 10 and 12 years in prison.
United States Attorney Rod J. Rosenstein praised the DEA, IRS Criminal Investigation, and Baltimore City and County Police Departments for their work in the investigation.
