Brandon David Cuddihe, 32, of Binghamton, N.Y., was sentenced to 30 years in federal prison without parole for attempting to produce child pornography by posing as a 14-year-old girl on Facebook. The grim sentence, handed down by U.S. District Judge Stephen R. Bough in Jefferson City, Mo., marks the end of a disturbing case involving the manipulation of at least 11 minors across multiple states.

Cuddihe admitted in court on Oct. 16, 2018, to operating a fake Facebook profile under the name “Hannah Richards.” From that digital hideout, he targeted vulnerable children, engaging over 150 individuals — many between the ages of 10 and 16 — in deceptive conversations designed to extract nude photos and videos. Three of his victims were from Sedalia, Mo., including two 10-year-old girls whose images were solicited through calculated grooming tactics.

One mother in Sedalia discovered her 10-year-old daughter had sent explicit material via Facebook Messenger and immediately alerted the Sedalia Police Department. That tip triggered a federal investigation that uncovered eight more underage victims, all between 10 and 16. FBI agents traced the digital footprints back to Cuddihe’s New York home, where evidence revealed the “Hannah Richards” account spanned more than 2,000 pages of predatory solicitations.

Court documents show Cuddihe used a chillingly methodical approach: he’d friend a random user, then rapidly add their contacts to expand his reach. Once a minor accepted his request, he’d initiate private chats through Facebook Messenger. In some cases, he weaponized victims’ own images, sharing them with other children to pressure them into producing more illicit content — a tactic that amplified the abuse and widened the trauma.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Ashley S. Turner and investigated by a coalition of law enforcement agencies, including the FBI, the Sedalia Police Department, the Binghamton Police Department, and the Broome County Sheriff’s Office. The collaboration underscores the cross-jurisdictional nature of cyber-enabled child exploitation and the federal priority placed on dismantling such operations.

This prosecution was part of Project Safe Childhood, a DOJ-led initiative launched in 2006 to combat child sexual exploitation. With Cuddihe now facing three decades behind bars and another 30 years under federal supervision, authorities hope the sentence sends a clear message: predators who exploit children online will be hunted down, exposed, and punished to the fullest extent of the law.
