Child Predator Brought to Justice in West Virginia
A 21-year-old man from Berkeley County has pleaded guilty to a child exploitation offense in a federal court in West Virginia.
James Braddock Biggerman, of Hedgesville, was charged with attempted enticement of a minor in March 2021. He faces at least 10 years and up to life in prison when he is sentenced on June 14, 2021.
According to court documents, Biggerman communicated with two 13-year-old girls via Snapchat and text messages in June and July 2020, asking them to engage in sexual activity and sending them explicit images and videos.
He even offered to pay one of the girls $100 to engage in sexual activity. Biggerman also planned to transport the girls to Charleston to have sex with them and record the activity on video.
Acting United States Attorney Lisa G. Johnston praised the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office, the Charleston Police Department, and the FBI Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force for their work in the case.
Biggerman was arrested on July 18, 2020, when he arrived at the location where he had arranged to meet one of the girls. He will be sentenced on June 14, 2021.
This case was prosecuted as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse.
In a statement, Johnston said, “We are committed to prosecuting anyone who seeks to exploit our most vulnerable population – our children.”
Biggerman’s case highlights the importance of this initiative and the need for continued vigilance in protecting our children from predators.
