Clinton Man Sentenced to 97 Months in Federal Prison for Receipt of Child Pornography

Brent Michael Fisher, 48, a Clinton man, was sentenced to 97 months in federal prison for receipt of child pornography, according to a recent court ruling.

According to public court documents, Fisher possessed fifteen devices that contained child sexual abuse material, including cell phones and memory cards. His then-wife discovered two memory cards with child sexual abuse material of minor victims and reported it to law enforcement.

The Clinton Police Department obtained search warrants for the two memory cards, as well as Fisher’s house, car, and work trailer the same day they received the report. In total, Fisher possessed more than 36,000 images and nearly 10,000 videos containing child sexual abuse material.

United States Attorney Richard D. Westphal of the Southern District of Iowa made the announcement. This case was investigated by the Clinton Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Fisher’s sentence also includes a five-year term of supervised release after completing his term of imprisonment. Additionally, he is required to register as a sex offender and pay $93,000 in restitution.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006. Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to better locate, apprehend and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims.
