Independence, IA – Jordan Michael Million, 23, of Independence, Iowa, is facing a potential lifetime behind bars after being indicted on sickening charges of receiving and possessing child pornography. The indictment, unsealed August 20, 2025, in United States District Court in Cedar Rapids, details a disturbing pattern of alleged activity spanning much of 2024.
According to court documents, between April and December 2024, Million allegedly received child pornography. The indictment further claims he possessed this vile material on not one, but two cellular telephones – an Apple device and a Motorola. Investigators believe the possession spanned from April to December 2024 for the Apple phone and October to December 2024 for the Motorola.
If convicted on all counts, Million is staring down a mandatory minimum sentence of 5 years in federal prison. The potential maximum? A staggering 40 years. Beyond imprisonment, he could be hit with a $750,000 fine, $84,300 in special assessments, and a lifetime of supervised release after serving any time. This isn’t a slap on the wrist; this is a serious attempt to hold a predator accountable.
Million made his initial appearance in federal court in Cedar Rapids today, and the judge deemed him a flight risk, ordering him held without bond. The wheels of justice are turning, but remember: an indictment is not a conviction. Million is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. This case is a grim reminder of the darkness that lurks online and the tireless work law enforcement does to combat it.
This investigation is part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide Department of Justice initiative launched in 2006 to combat the escalating crisis of child sexual exploitation and abuse. The program brings together federal, state, and local resources to identify, apprehend, and prosecute those who prey on innocent children. Information on Project Safe Childhood can be found at www.usdoj.gov/psc. Internet safety resources are also available on the same website.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Devra T. Hake. The investigation was a collaborative effort, involving the Marshalltown Police Department, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, the Independence Police Department, the Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office, and even the Cedar Bend Humane Society.
