A West Monroe man has been sentenced to 93 months in prison for possessing methamphetamine with intent to distribute.
Brian T. Menzie, 52, of West Monroe, La., was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Robert G. James for one count of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.
He was also sentenced to four years of supervised release.
According to evidence presented at the July 7, 2014 guilty plea, law enforcement agents searched Menzie’s home on December 9, 2013 and found 121 net grams of methamphetamine at 86.5 percent purity inside a zip lock bag, packaged for sale.
Agents also seized $3,565, a firearm, and assorted drug paraphernalia.
The investigation was conducted by the DEA, and Assistant U.S. Attorney James G. Cowles Jr. prosecuted the case.
Brian T. Menzie remains in custody, serving his 93-month sentence.
Menzie’s case is a stark reminder of the ongoing threat of methamphetamine in our communities.
