A Charleston man has been accused of distributing a deadly substance. Brian Vineyard, 49, sold approximately 3.5 grams of fentanyl to a confidential informant in exchange for $450 on September 9, 2020.
According to court documents, Vineyard handed over the illicit substance in a transaction that has landed him in hot water. The sale was just one of many factors that led to his downfall, as he now faces severe consequences for his actions.
Vineyard pleaded guilty to distribution of fentanyl and is set to be sentenced on November 17, 2021. He could face up to 20 years in prison for the crime.
The case was brought to light through the tireless efforts of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Metropolitan Drug Enforcement Network Team (MDENT), and the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Department.
Senior United States District Judge John T. Copenhaver, Jr. presided over the hearing.
Vineyard’s attorney, Assistant United States Attorney Monica D. Coleman, is handling the prosecution.
As a result of his guilty plea, Vineyard’s fate is now in the hands of the court. His sentence will be determined on November 17, 2021. The severity of his punishment remains to be seen.
