Eric Herman, Drug Distribution and Firearm Possession, Connecticut 2024

Eric Herman, a 32-year-old Bridgeport menace, has been handed an eight-year sentence for drug distribution and firearm possession. United States Attorney David X. Sullivan announced the verdict, with U.S. District Judge Victor A. Bolden delivering the hammer blow in New Haven.

Herman’s reign of terror in the city was brought to a halt after two fatal overdoses from fentanyl in 2021, which authorities believe were linked back to him. The DEA’s Bridgeport HIDTA Task Force and Stratford Police Department took notice and began their investigation, leading to Herman’s downfall.

In May and June of 2022, investigators bought drugs straight from Herman, including fentanyl, heroin, and crack cocaine. But it was his September 15, 2022, arrest that turned the tables when police found a loaded 9mm ghost gun, rounds of ammunition, and cocaine distribution quantities on him.

Herman’s rap sheet is long: he has state felony convictions for drug and firearm offenses. Owning a firearm or ammunition that moved in interstate commerce is illegal under federal law after a prior felony conviction, which Herman had violated.

Since his arrest, Herman has been locked up, with today’s sentence marking the end of his reign of terror. On March 24, 2025, he pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including intent to distribute cocaine base, fentanyl, and heroin, as well as unlawful possession of ammunition by a felon.

Eric Herman also faced state court charges for narcotics and manslaughter, resulting in a suspended sentence of 20 years. Judge Bolden saw fit to run his federal sentence concurrently with the state sentence, ensuring no time is wasted on this dangerous individual.
