BRIDGEPORT, CT – Lorenzo Carter, known as ‘Zo’ and ‘Skiii’, was today sentenced by U.S. District Judge Kari A. Dooley to 480 months in federal prison for his involvement with the Original North End (O.N.E.) gang.
Carter’s sentence also includes three years of supervised release, marking a significant blow to the violent street gang that has terrorized Bridgeport and its surrounding areas.
According to court documents and evidence presented during the trial, Carter was deeply involved in the O.N.E.’s activities, which included drug trafficking, murder, robbery, and other violent acts. His gang targeted rivals like the East End and PT Barnum gangs, stealing cars and using them for criminal purposes.
The most heinous of Carter’s crimes occurred on August 13, 2018, when he and fellow O.N.E. members mistook Len Smith, 25, for a rival gang member and shot him dead in Bridgeport. Smith’s female companion was also seriously wounded during the shooting.
Carter has been detained since May 21, 2021, and on November 21, 2023, he was convicted after trial of racketeering conspiracy. His criminal history includes prior federal firearm convictions, including a 2016 sentence for unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon.
This investigation, which has seen approximately 47 gang members and associates face federal charges, has solved eight murders and nearly 20 attempted murders. It was a collaborative effort involving multiple law enforcement agencies, including the FBI, ATF, DEA, U.S. Marshals Service, Connecticut State Police, Bridgeport Police Department, and other local police departments.
