Jonathon Mark Brinlee, False Statement During Purchase of a Firearm, Oklahoma 2025

MUSKOGEE, OKLAHOMA – A bold move to deceive during a gun purchase landed Jonathon Mark Brinlee, 40, of Calera, Oklahoma, behind bars for a year. The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma has announced that Brinlee was sentenced to 12 months and one day in prison for one count of False Statement During Purchase of a Firearm.

The investigation, led by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the Choctaw Nation Lighthorse Police, revealed that Brinlee checked “No” to Question 22i on Form 4473 just days after being served with a protective order. On April 3, 2025, he pleaded guilty, and now faces the consequences of his dishonesty.

This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program dedicated to reducing violent crime and gun violence in our neighborhoods. Launched on May 26, 2021, PSN focuses on fostering trust, supporting community organizations, strategic enforcement, and measuring results to keep communities safe.

The Honorable Ronald A. White presided over Brinlee’s hearing, with the defendant now awaiting transport to a federal prison facility to serve his non-paroleable sentence. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jonathan E. Soverly represented the United States in this case.

Brinlee’s conviction serves as a stark reminder of the serious consequences for those who seek to deceive during firearm purchases, and underscores the commitment of law enforcement to uphold the safety and integrity of our communities.
