Grimy Times has learned that a Kansas woman has been sentenced to 240 months in prison after being caught with a massive quantity of fentanyl pills in Alabama.
According to a press release from the U.S. Department of Justice, U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Alabama, Brittany J. McComb, 39, of Andover, Kansas, was sentenced on January 25, 2024, for her role in trafficking fentanyl.
McComb admitted to possessing approximately 115,000 fentanyl pills, which she intended to sell. The pills, which were seized by law enforcement, are estimated to be worth over $1.15 million.
The investigation into McComb’s activities was led by the Birmingham Field Office of the FBI, with assistance from the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Melissa K. Jefferson.
McComb pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute fentanyl in July 2023. She was sentenced by U.S. District Judge L. Scott Coogler to 240 months in prison, followed by 5 years of supervised release.
McComb’s sentence is a stark reminder of the dangers of fentanyl trafficking and the devastating impact it has on communities across the country.
