Brittany Smith, Sex Trafficking Conspiracy, Boston MA 2024

BOSTON – Brittany Smith, a 38-year-old Fall River woman, pleaded guilty yesterday in federal court in Boston to her role in a sex trafficking conspiracy that victimized two minors and one adult.

According to the U.S. Department of Justice, U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Massachusetts, Smith was charged with conspiracy to commit sex trafficking of a minor and sex trafficking of a minor, both in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 1591.

The sex trafficking conspiracy allegedly took place in the summer of 2022, when Smith recruited and forced a 15-year-old female to engage in commercial sex acts. She also forced a 17-year-old male and a 22-year-old female to engage in commercial sex acts.

Smith’s guilty plea is the result of an investigation conducted by the FBI’s Boston Division, with assistance from the Massachusetts State Police and the Bristol County Sheriff’s Office.

U.S. District Court Judge F. Dennis Saylor IV scheduled a sentencing hearing for April 18, 2024. Smith faces a mandatory minimum penalty of 10 years in prison and a maximum penalty of life in prison, as well as a fine of $250,000 and restitution to the victims.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Zachary T. McCabe and Christine J. Wichers.

Smith’s guilty plea is a significant victory for the victims and a testament to the dedication of law enforcement and prosecutors in bringing sex traffickers to justice.
