BOSTON – Kevin Cardoso, 26, the head of a Brockton-based drug-trafficking organization, has agreed to plead guilty to serious gun and drug offenses. Cardoso faces life in prison after being charged with distributing wholesale quantities of cocaine, fentanyl, and methamphetamine.
Cardoso pleaded guilty to one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition; one count of possession with intent to distribute over 500 grams of cocaine, over 400 grams of fentanyl, and over 500 grams of methamphetamine; and one count of conspiracy to distribute and possess the same substances. Sentencing is scheduled for June 1, 2023.
The investigation revealed that Cardoso’s DTO operated multiple locations in and around Brockton, where they stored and distributed narcotics. His arrest came after a search of his Dedham stash location yielded nearly 2,000 grams of cocaine, over 3,000 grams of fentanyl, and 5,000 grams of methamphetamine, along with significant cash.
Cardoso’s apartment search turned up additional evidence of his criminal activities, including a firearm, ammunition, multiple cellphones containing drug-related communications, and substantial cash. At the time of his arrest, he was carrying over $6,000 in cash and three phones.
The charges against Cardoso carry potential sentences of life imprisonment, fines exceeding $10 million, and long-term supervised release. United States Attorney Rachael S. Rollins; Joseph Bonavolonta, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI Boston Division; and various local police chiefs were among those involved in the investigation.
Cardoso’s case is a stark reminder of the dangers posed by drug-trafficking organizations and the comprehensive efforts of law enforcement to dismantle them.
