Former Bronx Teacher Charged with Sex Crimes

A former music teacher at a Bronx public charter school has been arrested and charged with multiple sex crimes against minors.

Jesus Concepcion, also known as ‘Mr. C,’ was arrested on August 7, 2021, in Charlotte, North Carolina, and presented in the Western District of North Carolina. Concepcion, a music teacher and orchestra instructor at a public charter middle school in the Bronx, is accused of luring four of his students into sexual relationships.

According to the allegations, Concepcion gave his victims money, clothing, jewelry, and other gifts, and provided them with alcohol. He also told several of the victims that they were in romantic relationships with him and provided each of them with a cellphone to communicate with him without their parents’ knowledge.

The indictment alleges that Concepcion engaged in sexual intercourse with his victims in various locations, including the school’s music room, in his car, at motels, and at their out-of-state high schools. On at least one occasion, Concepcion had sexual intercourse with one of the victims against her will.

Concepcion also instructed one of his victims to take naked photographs of herself and send them to him. He directed her on how to pose, touch herself in a sexually explicit manner, and photograph her genitalia.

Manhattan U.S. Attorney Audrey Strauss said, ‘As alleged, Jesus Concepcion abused his position as a teacher at a public school in the Bronx to engage in sexual relationships with several of his students.’ FBI Acting Assistant Director Jacqueline Maguire added, ‘Teachers serve as trusted figures to their students… Concepcion egregiously breached that trust as he abused his position to coerce students… into having sex with him.’

Concepcion is accused of transporting the minor victims across state lines to engage in illegal sexual acts and inducing one minor victim to produce child pornography.

He was arrested in North Carolina and presented in the Western District of North Carolina. Concepcion is currently facing charges in connection with the sex crimes.
