Washington – A brother and sister duo have been hit with a 20-year maximum sentence after pleading guilty to conspiracy to distribute and possession of Fentanyl. Larry Jerome Eastman, 22, of Temple Hills, Maryland, and Justice Michelle Eastman, 26, of Washington, D.C., are accused of selling deadly fentanyl-laced Oxycodone pills that led to a 20-year-old woman’s death.
The victims’ tragic demise began in November 2020 when the young woman survived an overdose. Her fatal overdose occurred on April 6, 2021, after consuming fake Oxycodone pills containing Fentanyl, which was later confirmed by DEA analysis. The faked M30 pills were traced back to the Eastmans, who were arrested in January 2022.
Government evidence showed the victim had exchanged text messages with Larry Eastman, requesting ‘jammers,’ street slang for counterfeit blue Oxycodone pills containing Fentanyl. Justice Eastman was reportedly handling payments through a Cashapp account. Communications between the defendants and the victim went back to September 2020.
The DEA highlighted the growing danger of fentanyl mixed with other drugs like heroin, meth, and cocaine, emphasizing that fake prescription pills can be particularly lethal. The DEA Laboratory’s findings indicate that six out of ten Fentanyl-laced counterfeit prescription pills contain a potentially fatal dose of Fentanyl.
Both defendants face up to 20 years in prison, as the charge carries a statutory maximum sentence. Sentencing hearings for Larry and Justice Eastman are scheduled for June 15, 2023.
