SHREVEPORT, La. – A federal grand jury has returned a superseding indictment against two brothers, Kevin Terrell Lewis and Larry Dewayne Lewis, charging them with the murder of B.J., who was killed during a botched robbery at a Walgreens store parking lot.
The brothers, aged 38 and 44 respectively, were previously charged with robbery and conspiracy to use firearms in connection with a crime of violence. Now, they face life sentences for their role in the January 22, 2025 incident that led to B.J.’s tragic death.
According to the indictment, Kevin and Larry Lewis robbed B.J. of prescription drugs and a work van while he was making a delivery from Hackbarth Company to Walgreens on Line Avenue. During the robbery, they discharged firearms, resulting in B.J.’s fatal injury.
The brothers also stand accused of robbing approximately $500 in cash from a store owner/manager in Shreveport on December 23, 2024. Kevin Lewis is charged with using semi-automatic firearms during these crimes.
Both are facing up to life in prison and a fine of $250,000 if convicted of the new charge. The investigation, led by the FBI, continues to seek information on additional participants in the crime. Tips can be submitted to 1-800-CALL-FBI or online at https://tips.fbi.gov.
The prosecution is being handled by Assistant United States Attorneys J. Aaron Crawford and William C. Gaskins. An indictment is merely an accusation, and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
