Two Mexican brothers, Juan Hurtado-Solano, 43, and Candido Hurtado-Solano, 39, have pleaded guilty in federal court to illegal reentry by a removed alien. The brothers were first encountered by immigration officials in May 2012 following Candido’s arrest for driving under the influence.
Both men were determined to be in the United States illegally and were removed to Mexico in August 2012, only to return illegally and be removed again in September 2012. They were most recently found in the country on May 29, 2025, during a search warrant execution at a construction site in Tallahassee.
U.S. Attorney John P. Heekin emphasized that President Donald J. Trump and Attorney General Pam Bondi have made enforcing immigration laws a top priority. He stated that violations of immigration laws will not be tolerated by his office, signaling a warning to all illegal aliens.
The brothers face up to two years in prison followed by removal from the United States. The case was investigated by Homeland Security Investigations and U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Justin Keen and James A. McCain.
Candido Hurtado-Solano’s sentencing is set for July 11, 2025, at the United States Courthouse in Tallahassee before Judge Mark E. Walker. Juan Hurtado-Solano’s sentencing has yet to be scheduled but will occur before Chief United States District Judge Allen C. Winsor.
This case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative aimed at repelling illegal immigration and protecting communities from violent crime. The Northern District of Florida is one of 94 offices that serve as the nation’s principal litigators under the direction of the Attorney General.
