Bryan Miller, Bribery, Tennessee 2025

A federal judge in Memphis, Tennessee has sent a former correctional officer to federal prison for bribery. Bryan Miller, 32, was sentenced to 12 months and 1 day of federal imprisonment for accepting money in exchange for smuggling contraband items into the Memphis Federal Correctional Institution (FCI).

According to court documents, Miller began smuggling contraband into FCI Memphis in December 2022 while employed as a correctional officer. Over a four-month period, he received $19,500.00 as payment for his unlawful activities.

Miller pled guilty to a one-count information in January 2024, alleging that, as a public official, he accepted money in exchange for smuggling contraband items, including narcotics, into FCI Memphis, in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 201(b)(C).

On April 10, 2025, United States District Judge Mark S. Norris sentenced Miller to 12 months and 1 day of federal imprisonment, to be followed by two years of supervised release. There is no parole in the federal system.

The case was prosecuted by Deputy Criminal Chief Michelle Kimbril-Parks and investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

A federal judge has held a former correctional officer accountable for his crimes. Bryan Miller’s bribery scheme has been brought to an end, and he will face the consequences of his actions.
