Travis Birdsong, Possession with Intent to Distribute Crack Cocaine, New York 2013

BUFFALO, NY – A 35-year-old Buffalo man has been caught red-handed with a stash of crack cocaine and now faces a lengthy prison sentence. Travis Birdsong pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute 28 grams or more of crack cocaine, a charge that comes with a mandatory minimum penalty of five years in prison and a maximum of 40 years, along with a fine of up to $5,000,000 or both.

On June 5, 2013, Birdsong was in a vehicle that was searched by Special Agents with the Drug Enforcement Administration. The agents seized a quantity of crack cocaine from the vehicle, which marked the beginning of the end for the defendant. In addition, on the same day, law enforcement officers searched Birdsong’s residence and found more crack cocaine, along with scales and packaging materials.

But that’s not all – a confidential informant had also purchased cocaine from Birdsong on two separate occasions, further incriminating the defendant. This damning evidence led to Birdsong’s guilty plea in court.

The investigation into Birdsong’s activities was led by the Drug Enforcement Administration, under the direction of Acting Special Agent in Charge James J. Hunt, New York Field Division. The case was handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney George C. Burgasser.

Birdsong’s plea is a significant blow to the city’s fight against crime. His actions pose a threat to the community, and his conviction is a testament to the tireless efforts of law enforcement to keep the streets safe.

Now, Birdsong awaits sentencing, which will be scheduled at a later date. The community can only hope that justice will be served and that Birdsong will be held accountable for his crimes.

The case is a stark reminder of the dangers of drug trafficking and the importance of community vigilance. We urge residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the authorities.
