Buffalo, NY – In a shocking turn of events, 32-year-old Shane Corter has pleaded guilty to multiple drug and gun charges in a New York federal court.
According to prosecutors, Corter was found in possession of 50 grams or more of methamphetamine, as well as a .40 caliber handgun loaded with nine rounds of ammunition and a magazine loaded with 10 live rounds of ammunition.
Corter also faced charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm, as he was previously convicted of multiple drug offenses in Iredell County District Court in North Carolina in 2006.
The investigation, led by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Erie County Sheriff’s Office, uncovered a significant amount of evidence, including vacuum-sealed packages of cocaine, methamphetamine, and butyryl fentanyl, as well as a quantity of marijuana and a digital scale with white powder residue.
Corter’s guilty plea carries a mandatory minimum penalty of 10 years in prison, a maximum of life, and a $10,000,000 fine.
Citing Assistant U.S. Attorney Patricia Astorga, the evidence against Corter was substantial, including a search of his residence at 39 Greenfield Street in Buffalo, where officers recovered numerous packages of narcotics, and a traffic stop on Grand Island, where officers found hypodermic needles loaded with butyryl fentanyl.
Corter is scheduled to be sentenced on December 13, 2018, before Judge Geraci, and faces a lengthy prison term for his crimes.
