Justin Hall, Fentanyl Distribution, New York 2024

A local man’s reckless pursuit of profit has led to a guilty plea in federal court, with devastating consequences.

Justin Hall, 33, of Buffalo, NY, pleaded guilty to distribution of cocaine, fentanyl, and para-fluorofentanyl before U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara. The charges carry a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison, and a fine of $1,000,000.

The investigation into Hall’s activities began on April 18, 2022, when he sold cocaine to a regular customer, identified as V.O. Tragically, just two days later, law enforcement officers and emergency personnel arrived at V.O.’s residence to find the victim deceased. An autopsy revealed the cause of death to be acute mixed drug intoxication, including cocaine, fentanyl, para-fluorofentanyl, and tramadol.

The investigation continued, with investigators making two controlled purchases of cocaine from Hall on May 19 and May 26, 2022. The evidence gathered led to Hall’s indictment and subsequent guilty plea.

The case is a stark reminder of the dangers of the opioid epidemic, and the devastating consequences of reckless behavior. As Hall awaits sentencing, scheduled for October 18, 2024, at 12:30 p.m. before Judge Arcara, the community is left to grapple with the loss of life and the ongoing struggle to combat the scourge of addiction.

The investigation was conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration, under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge Frank Tarentino, III, New York Field Division, and the Buffalo Police Department, under the direction of Commissioner Joseph Gramaglia.

The guilty plea is a significant development in the ongoing fight against opioid trafficking, and serves as a warning to those who would profit from the suffering of others. As the Grimy Times continues to shine a light on the darkest corners of the justice system, we will remain vigilant in our pursuit of truth and accountability.
