BUFFALO, NY – In a shocking display of brutality, a Buffalo man has been sentenced to 16 years in prison for his role in a cocaine heist that left a victim shaken and traumatized.
According to authorities, Kashika Speed, 42, conspired with others to rob a cocaine distributor in the Buffalo area sometime before February 23, 2005. The brazen heist involved brandishing a firearm, abducting the victim, and threatening to kill them unless they provided the defendants with two kilograms of cocaine.
The victim, in a desperate bid to escape, made a phone call to an associate, who placed the cocaine on the porch of a residence in Buffalo. Speed and his accomplices secured the cocaine and released the victim, bringing the ordeal to an end.
Speed was arrested along with three others in connection with the heist. Charges are pending against Thamud Eldridge, Kevin Allen, and Galen Rose. While the fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, the prosecution’s case against Speed is a stark reminder of the dangers of organized crime in our community.
The investigation, led by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Buffalo Police Department, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, was a collaborative effort that brought Speed to justice. U.S. Attorney William J. Hochul, Jr. praised the efforts of the investigators, stating that their work was instrumental in securing the conviction and sentence.
Speed’s sentencing is a significant blow to the organized crime syndicate and serves as a reminder that those who engage in such activities will be held accountable. The sentence also brings closure to the victim, who has been through a traumatic ordeal.
