Ohio Man Sentenced for Crossing State Lines for Sex

A 32-year-old Ohio man has been sentenced to 50 months in prison for crossing state lines to engage in illegal sexual conduct, according to U.S. Attorney Bill Powell.

James Vincent Scott, of Hudson, Ohio, was sentenced to 50 months incarceration for the sex charge.

According to the indictment, Scott admitted to traveling from Ohio to Harrison County, West Virginia, to engage in illegal sexual conduct in February 2019.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Danae Demasi-Lemon prosecuted the case on behalf of the government, and the Bridgeport Police Department investigated.

The case was prosecuted as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative designed to protect children from online exploitation and abuse.

U.S. Attorney Powell said: ‘This sentence reflects the seriousness of the offense and the need to protect our communities from predators who seek to harm children.’

Senior U.S. District Judge Irene M. Keeley presided over the case. Scott pled guilty to one count of ‘Travel with Intent to Engage in Illicit Sexual Conduct’ in June 2019.
