Buffalo Man Pleads Guilty to Selling Fentanyl
A Buffalo man has plead guilty to selling fentanyl, a powerful synthetic opioid.
According to court documents, Antonio Broadus, 33, of Buffalo, NY, sold 10 grams of butyryl fentanyl to two separate individuals working with the Drug Enforcement Administration in January and February 2018.
The sales took place in the parking lot of a retail store on Jefferson Avenue in Buffalo, where Broadus exchanged the fentanyl for $840.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Timothy C. Lynch stated that the defendant’s actions were a significant threat to public safety and he faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and a $1,000,000 fine.
The plea is the result of an investigation by the Drug Enforcement Administration, under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge Ray Donovan, New York Field Office.
Sentencing is scheduled for June 12, 2019, at 12:30 p.m. before Judge Richard J. Arcara.
U.S. Attorney James P. Kennedy, Jr. announced the guilty plea, stating that the case highlights the ongoing efforts to combat the opioid crisis in Western New York.
