Donald Egan, Possession of Child Pornography, New York 2024

A Buffalo man has pleaded guilty to possessing child pornography, a crime that carries a minimum penalty of 10 years in prison, a maximum of 20 years and a $250,000 fine.

Donald Egan, 51, of Buffalo, NY, entered the guilty plea before U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara.

According to Assistant U.S. Attorney Jonathan Cantil, on July 19, 2017, a United States Probation Officer seized a cellular telephone from Egan during a routine supervision visit at his Memorial Drive residence in Buffalo.

The officer turned the phone over to the FBI’s Child Exploitation Task Force, which led to the discovery of 32 images of child pornography. Some of the images included pre-pubescent minors.

The plea is the result of an investigation by the United States Probation Department, under the direction of Chief Probation Officer Anthony SanGiacomo, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Buffalo Division, under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge Gary Loeffert.

Egan was a sex offender under supervision at the time of the discovery, and possession of a phone was a violation of his release from prison.

Sentencing is scheduled for August 22, 2018, at 12:30 PM before Judge Arcara. Contact Barbara Burns at (716) 843-5817 for more information.
