Lucio Juarez, Methamphetamine Distribution, Idaho 2017

Pocatello, ID – In a stunning revelation from the federal courts, Lucio Juarez, a resident of Burley, Idaho, has been charged with illegal drug trafficking, according to Acting U.S. Attorney Rafael Gonzalez.

The indictment against Juarez, unsealed on April 25, 2017, accuses him of conspiracy and distribution of methamphetamine between December 2016 and April 2017. The grand jury sitting in Pocatello levied the charges after a thorough investigation.

Juarez is accused of distributing methamphetamine four times within the alleged conspiracy period. Authorities executed search warrants in Burley and Heyburn on April 26th to gather evidence related to the case.

The gravity of the charges against Juarez cannot be overstated. If convicted, he faces a minimum sentence of five years and a maximum of forty years in prison, along with a fine of up to $5,000,000 and at least four years of supervised release.

Juarez is set to face trial before U.S. District Chief Judge B. Lynn Winmill on July 3, 2017, at the federal courthouse in Pocatello.

This investigation was a collaborative effort between several law enforcement agencies including the ATF, Idaho State Police, Cassia County Sheriff’s Office, and Minnedoka County Sheriff’s Office.

As with all criminal charges, an indictment is merely an accusation. Juarez is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
