A Calif. man has been handed a 15-year federal prison sentence for selling methamphetamine in northeastern Oklahoma, officials have revealed.
Eric Steven Bentley, 35, from Bakersfield, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Gregory K. Frizzell on Monday, following his arrest by Mannford police officer who uncovered meth, fentanyl, and firearms in his car.
Bentley had traveled to Oklahoma with two co-defendants, Derrick Deeds and Nicole Dileva, planning to exchange the drug for cash and guns. He pleaded guilty to possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute and possession of firearms in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.
In his plea agreement, Bentley admitted to carrying over 500 grams of meth on October 31, 2020, which he intended to sell. The trio also had a revolver, a semi-automatic pistol, and a homemade firearm for protection during the drug sales.
The trio were charged after a traffic stop by Mannford police on October 2020, where they found three pounds of meth, fentanyl pills, and the firearms. Deeds was sentenced to 78 months in prison, while Dileva received 60 months.
The investigation was conducted by the Mannford Police Department, DEA, and ATF, with Assistant U.S. Attorneys Jessica L. Wright and Justin G. Bish handling the prosecution.
