California Man Charged with Meth Trafficking
A California man has been charged with violating federal narcotics laws in connection with the shipment of a pound of methamphetamine to Louisiana.
Joel Alexander Fabre, 33, of California, was charged with possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, according to a press release from U.S. Attorney Duane A. Evans.
According to the indictment, between March 16, 2021 and March 20, 2021, Fabre shipped a pound of methamphetamine via USPS and received $3000.00 for the methamphetamine via a MoneyGram, in violation of Title 21 United States Code, Section 841(a)(1) and 841(b)(1)A).
U.S. Attorney Evans reiterated that an indictment is merely a charge and that the guilt of the defendant must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt.
If convicted, Fabre faces a maximum term of imprisonment of life, a fine of up to $10,000,000 and at least five years of supervised release after imprisonment, as well as a $100 special assessment.
U.S. Attorney Evans praised the work of the Homeland Security Investigations in investigating this matter. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Maurice E. Landrieu, Jr.
Fabre’s case serves as a reminder of the ongoing battle against methamphetamine trafficking in Louisiana. The Grimy Times will continue to follow this case and provide updates as more information becomes available.
