SAVANNAH, GA — Current Camden County Sheriff’s Office Sergeant, Buck William Aldridge, 42, of St. Mary’s Georgia, has been indicted on federal charges of deprivation of rights under color of law and falsifying records, according to a thirteen-count Indictment returned by a federal grand jury.
Allegedly, while working as a Deputy Sheriff, Aldridge used excessive force on arrestees on four separate occasions. The indictment also asserts that he concocted misleading reports for the Camden County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) to justify his actions.
The U.S. Attorney Tara M. Lyons for the Southern District of Georgia and Special Agent in Charge Paul Brown of the FBI Atlanta Field Office announced the charges against Aldridge, who could face up to 10 years in prison for each civil rights violation and an additional 20 years for each false report if convicted.
FBI Atlanta’s Special Agent in Charge Paul Brown emphasized that law enforcement officers are entrusted with upholding the law, not breaking it. “No badge puts anyone above the Constitution,” he stated. “We remain committed to investigating civil rights violations and holding accountable those who abuse their power.”
The FBI Brunswick Field Office is conducting the investigation into Aldridge’s actions, while the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Georgia is handling the prosecution. The case underscores that an indictment is merely an allegation, and Aldridge is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
