Canton Man Charged with Cocaine Possession
A 42-year-old Canton man is facing serious charges after a federal grand jury indicted him on multiple cocaine-related offenses.
Thomas Joseph Brown, 42, of Canton, Ohio, was charged with possession with intent to distribute approximately 446 grams of cocaine, possession of cocaine, and attempted possession of cocaine following a lengthy investigation by federal authorities.
According to court documents, the investigation began on November 14, 2013, when Postal Inspectors in Cleveland alerted authorities to two suspicious packages. A thorough investigation and surveillance led to Brown’s arrest by U.S. Postal Inspectors and members of the Ohio State Highway Patrol and Medway Drug Enforcement Agency.
If convicted, Brown’s sentence will be determined by the Court after review of factors unique to this case, including his prior criminal record, his role in the offenses, and the unique characteristics of the violations. In all cases, the sentence will not exceed the statutory maximum and in most cases, it will be less than the maximum.
The case is being prosecuted by Kevin Culum, Trial Attorney.
An indictment is only a charge and is not evidence of guilt. A defendant is entitled to a fair trial in which it will be the government’s burden to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
