BEAUMONT, Texas – A relentless thorn in the side of Jefferson County, Kendrick Malbrough, has been handed a 10-year federal prison sentence for his latest transgression involving firearms. The 29-year-old Humble resident has now faced at least 10 felony convictions, marking him as a persistent menace to public safety.
The sentencing came after a dramatic traffic stop on October 30, 2024, where Malbrough was caught trying to flee from the scene, discarding a pistol in his haste. He was also found with $1,990 in cash and almost 5 grams of crack cocaine hidden in his mouth.
Malbrough’s latest sentence is a result of Operation Take Back America, an initiative aimed at combating illegal immigration, eliminating cartels and transnational criminal organizations, and protecting communities from violent crime. This operation leverages the Department of Justice’s resources to streamline efforts against organized crime.
The Beaumont Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives investigated the case, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Matt Quinn handling the prosecution. The court’s decision reflects a stern message to those who think they can evade justice through criminal activities.
U.S. District Judge Marcia A. Crone imposed the sentence on August 14, 2025, underscoring the government’s commitment to holding criminals accountable. As a convicted felon, Malbrough is prohibited by federal law from owning or possessing firearms, and his latest sentence demonstrates that this prohibition will be enforced.
This case serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing battle against gun violence and the dedication of law enforcement agencies to keep communities safe from such threats.
