Carjacking Murder Lands 27-Year Sentence
Aguadilla, Puerto Rico – In a shocking case of brutality, Luis Enrique Valentín-Ramírez, 27, has been sentenced to 27 years in prison for his role in a carjacking murder that shook the community.
According to the facts presented in court, the victim was spending time with Valentín-Ramírez and another individual during the early morning hours of September 13, 2019. The defendant and his cohort brutally beat the victim, taking his car. They returned to the scene a few minutes later, lifted the dazed victim into the vehicle, and drove him to an industrial zone in Aguadilla, where they brutally beat him to death.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) took charge of the investigation, with Assistant United States Attorney Juan Carlos Reyes of the Violent Crimes and National Security Section prosecuting the case.
W. Stephen Muldrow, United States Attorney for the District of Puerto Rico, announced the sentencing, stating that Valentín-Ramírez’s actions were ‘a heinous crime’ that ‘left a family and community devastated.’
The defendant’s sentencing brings a measure of justice to the family and friends of the victim, who suffered a brutal and senseless death at the hands of Valentín-Ramírez and his accomplice.
