Cedrick Dequn Willingham, Possessing a Firearm as a Felon, Iowa 2026

A Davenport man has been sentenced to 90 months in federal prison for possessing a firearm as a felon, according to a recent court ruling.

Cedrick Dequn Willingham, 39, was sentenced on March 12, 2026, after fleeing from officers in Bettendorf, Iowa, in August 2024. During a search of his residence, officers found a firearm, a drum magazine, and many rounds of ammunition.

Willingham is prohibited from possessing firearms and ammunition due to his felony convictions, including a 2025 conviction in the Iowa District Court for Scott County for possession of a controlled substance, third or subsequent offense.

The Scott County Sheriff’s Office investigated the case, and United States Attorney David C. Waterman of the Southern District of Iowa made the announcement.

This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence in communities. The program, launched in 2021, focuses on fostering trust and legitimacy in communities, supporting community-based organizations, setting focused and strategic enforcement priorities, and measuring results.

After completing his term of imprisonment, Willingham will be required to serve a three-year term of supervised release. There is no parole in the federal system.

The investigation into Willingham’s case is a prime example of the efforts being made to reduce gun violence and make neighborhoods safer for everyone.
