Centralia Meth Dealers Face the Music
Centralia’s streets just got a little bit cleaner, as two notorious meth dealers, Michael A. Flanagan, 43, and Dusty Jo Gambill, 40, both of Centralia, Illinois, pleaded guilty to an 11-count indictment last Friday, July 31, 2015. The indictment, returned by a Federal Grand Jury, charged them and others with the production and distribution of methamphetamine.
The charges, which date back to February 28, 2014, through October 1, 2014, in Clinton and Marion Counties, include Conspiracy to Manufacture and Distribute Methamphetamine. Gambill was also charged with Possession of a Listed Chemical (Pseudoephedrine) Knowing or Having Reasonable Cause to Believe that It Would Be Used to Manufacture Methamphetamine.
The investigation, which was led by the FBI, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, and the Clinton County Sheriff’s Department, assisted by the Illinois State Police Methamphetamine Response Team, and the Centralia Police Department, uncovered the evidence that led to the charges against Flanagan and Gambill. Assistant United States Attorney Kit Morrissey is handling the case.
Gambill faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison, a $1 million fine, and not less than 3 years’ supervised release for the Possession of a Listed Chemical charge. Count 1, Conspiracy to Manufacture and Distribute Methamphetamine, carries a penalty of not less than 5 years, up to a maximum of 40 years in federal prison, a $5 million fine, and at least 4 years’ supervised release.
The sentencing for Gambill is scheduled for November 6, 2015, while Flanagan’s sentencing will take place on November 13, 2015. With their guilty pleas, Flanagan and Gambill have taken a significant step toward facing the consequences of their crimes.
The guilty pleas serve as a reminder that the authorities will not tolerate the production and distribution of methamphetamine in Southern Illinois. The investigation and subsequent charges demonstrate the commitment of law enforcement to keeping our communities safe.
The case is a testament to the tireless efforts of law enforcement agencies working together to combat the scourge of methamphetamine. As the sentencing approaches, the people of Centralia can rest a little bit easier knowing that justice is being served.
