Waterbury Man Sentenced to 5 Years in Federal Prison for Cocaine Trafficking
Waterbury, CT – In a major blow to Connecticut’s cocaine trade, 29-year-old Chaddiel Ferrer was sentenced to 5 years in federal prison for his role in a large-scale cocaine trafficking ring.
According to court documents, Ferrer was the primary runner for a drug trafficking organization that coordinated the shipment of parcels containing kilogram-quantities of cocaine from Puerto Rico. Ferrer would regularly pick up parcels of cocaine mailed to the Waterbury area and deliver them to an associate.
During the investigation, a total of approximately 18 kilograms of cocaine were seized. Investigators also discovered nine firearms, including an AR-15 rifle, high-capacity magazines, and numerous rounds of ammunition, as well as $132,365 in cash.
Ferrer was arrested on state charges on October 20, 2022, and later pleaded guilty in federal court to conspiracy to distribute and to possess with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine on June 1, 2023.
Chaddiel Ferrer is currently out on a $100,000 bond and is required to report to prison by January 16, 2024. The case was investigated by the U.S. Postal Inspection Service’s Narcotics and Bulk Cash Trafficking Task Force, the Waterbury Police Department, and the Connecticut State Police Violent Crimes Task Force.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Konstantin Lantsman and Natasha M. Freismuth. This sentence serves as a stark reminder of the consequences of engaging in large-scale cocaine trafficking in Connecticut.
