Sacramento Resident Sentenced to 5 Years and 10 Months in Prison for Cocaine Trafficking

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Charles Carter, a 36-year-old Sacramento resident, was sentenced to 5 years and 10 months in prison for his role in a conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute at least 500 grams of cocaine.

According to court documents, Carter was intercepted during a 30-day wiretap trafficking kilograms of cocaine, kilograms of heroin, and methamphetamine pills. He was also intercepted planning to rob another heroin dealer of 3 kilograms of heroin worth $75,000.

This case is the result of an investigation by the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Homeland Security Investigations, and other agencies.

Carter’s sentence was handed down by U.S. District Judge Troy L. Nunley. He faces a maximum statutory penalty of 5 years and 10 months in prison and a $250,000 fine.

Other defendants in the case include Arlington Caine and Andre Hellams, who pleaded guilty to using a cellphone to facilitate a drug trafficking offense. They are scheduled to be sentenced on February 9, 2023.

The prosecution is part of the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) Strike Force Initiative, which provides for the establishment of permanent multi-agency task force teams that work side-by-side in the same location.
