Michael P. Daly, Child Porn Possession, New York 2024

A Cheektowaga man has been sentenced to 48 months in prison for possessing over 200,000 images of child pornography.

Michael P. Daly, 49, of Cheektowaga, NY, was convicted of possession of child pornography involving a prepubescent minor, and was sentenced to serve 48 months in prison, and 25 years supervised release, by U.S. District Judge Lawrence J. Vilardo.

Daly was also ordered to pay $23,000 in victim-related assessments.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Aaron J. Mango, who handled the case, stated that in June 2019, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) received a report from Microsoft Bing that one of their users uploaded an image of child pornography.

Subsequent investigation traced the image to Daly. On October 22, 2020, investigators executed a search warrant at Daly’s residence in Cheektowaga, seizing a laptop computer, a flash drive, and an iPhone.

A forensic search of all three items recovered over 200,000 images and 95 videos of child pornography. Some of the images include prepubescent minors and depictions of violence.

The sentencing is the result of an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge Miraglia, the New York State Police, under the direction of Major Stanley Edwards, III, and the Cheektowaga Police Department, under the direction of Chief Brian Coons.

The images and videos seized from Daly’s residence are a stark reminder of the devastating impact of child pornography on its victims. Daly’s actions were a clear threat to the safety and well-being of our children.

The 48-month sentence handed down by Judge Vilardo is a just punishment for Daly’s heinous crimes.
