Eric Michael Spreitzer, a 36-year-old man from Streetsboro, Ohio, was sentenced to 20 years in prison for receiving and sending child sexual abuse materials through online and social media platforms. The crimes occurred between January 2024 and October 2025, and were investigated by the FBI Akron Resident Agency and the Portage County Sheriff’s Office. Spreitzer pleaded guilty in April to receipt and distribution of visual depictions of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct and possession of child pornography. The investigation found numerous files containing the sexual abuse of children on Spreitzer’s devices and online accounts, including images of prepubescent minors under the age of 12.
The case was part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. The initiative is led by U.S. Attorneys’ Offices throughout the country and marshals federal, state, and local resources to better locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims.
Spreitzer was ordered to serve 15 years of supervised release after imprisonment and pay $49,000 in restitution to victims. The prosecution was led by Assistant United States Attorney Toni Beth Schnellinger Feisthamel for the Northern District of Ohio.
The sentence reflects the severity of the crimes committed by Spreitzer, and the importance of holding individuals accountable for exploiting and abusing children. The case highlights the need for continued vigilance and cooperation between law enforcement agencies to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse.
