Pedro Lopez, a 36-year-old resident of Pasadena, Texas, has been sentenced to 87 months in federal prison for exchanging child sexual abuse material over the internet. The investigation began on August 9, 2024, after authorities discovered Lopez uploading child porn online. Law enforcement executed a search warrant on his home, locating his cell phone, which revealed conversations involving child sexual abuse material.
Lopez pleaded guilty on May 6, 2025, and was ordered to pay $10,000 in restitution. He will also serve 10 years on supervised release, with restrictions on his access to children and the internet, and will be required to register as a sex offender.
The case was investigated by Immigration and Customs Enforcement – Homeland Security Investigations, with assistance from the Nueces County Sheriff’s Office. Assistant U.S. Attorney Patrick Overman prosecuted the case as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse.
Lopez was permitted to remain on bond and will voluntarily surrender to a Federal Bureau of Prisons facility in the near future. The sentence reflects the severity of the crime and the need to protect children from sexual abuse and exploitation.
